JKSSB Announces Recruitment for 1,815 JKP Constable Posts, Details Here
Srinagar, 24 December: The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has officially released Advertisement Notification No. 12 of 2025, inviting applications for 1,815 vacancies for the post of Constable (Executive) in the J&K Police under the Home Department.
This recruitment drive, conducted under direct recruitment, follows a formal request from the Home Department dated December 5, 2025. The positions are divided into two divisional cadres: 934 posts for Jammu Division and 881 posts for Kashmir Division.
Eligible candidates can begin submitting their online applications starting January 19, 2026, with the final deadline set for February 17, 2026. To be eligible, applicants must be domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and possess a valid domicile certificate issued by the competent authority on or before the application cutoff date. The minimum educational requirement for these posts is matriculation from a recognized board.
The age limit for candidates is set between 18 and 28 years as of January 1, 2025, meaning applicants must generally be born between January 1, 1997, and January 1, 2007. Relaxation in the upper age limit is provided for specific categories, including in-service police personnel who can apply up to the age of 30, and ex-servicemen who are allowed to deduct their years of service from their actual age.
The application fee is fixed at ₹700 for most candidates, while a reduced fee of ₹600 is applicable for those belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2, and EWS categories.
The selection process will be multi-staged, beginning with an objective-type written examination held in English. Notably, candidates with National Cadet Corps (NCC) certificates will be awarded bonus marks: 5% for “C” certificate holders, 3% for “B” holders, and 2% for “A” holders.
Based on written test performance, a number of candidates equal to six times the total vacancies in each category will be shortlisted for the Physical Standard Test (PST) and Physical Endurance Test (PET).
Physical standards require male candidates to have a minimum height of 5’6″ and a chest girth of 32″ (unexpanded) to 33.5″ (expanded). Female candidates must have a minimum height of 5’2″.
The PET for males includes a 1,600-meter race to be completed in 6.5 minutes and 20 pushups, while females must complete a 1,000-meter race in 6.5 minutes and a 4kg shot put throw of at least 14.5 feet. Both the physical tests are of a qualifying nature.
Final selection will be followed by a medical examination to ensure candidates meet the required fitness standards for the force.
